Welcome to the
City of Hull
Established years ago in 1905, the City of Hull is a small town situated in the southwestern corner of Madison County, Georgia, just outside Athens-Clarke County. Known as The Well City, Hull is both part of the watershed of the South Fork of the Board River and of the Savannah River basin. Georgia State Route 72 passes through the center of town, leading southwest to Athens and northeast to Colbert, and in the center of town is the historic water well at the intersection of Highway 72 and Glenn Carrie Road.
Georgia Burn Ban
Madison County and the City of Hull fall under the outdoor burn ban enacted by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. This burn ban is active every year between May 1 and September 30 and restricts all outdoor burning. Between October 1 and April 30, however, outdoor burning is permitted under certain circumstances and with certain restrictions.
When not under the outdoor burn ban, outdoor burning of hand-piled natural vegetation or yard debris does not require a burn permit. However, please take note of any high fire danger warnings and do not burn when conditions are unfavorable for outdoor burns. For all other outdoor burns, you should contact the Georgia Forestry Commission at 1-800-428-7337 for further information.
For any questions, contact the Georgia Forestry Commission at 1-800-428-7337 or visit the Georgia Forestry Commission web site at https://gatrees.org/burn-permits-and-notifications/.
